A shade tree is a large tree whose primary role is to provide shade in the surrounding environment due to its spreading canopy and crown, provides shelter from sunlight in the heat of the summer, and also protects people from the sun's harmful UV rays and sunburns. Therefore, some shade trees may be grown specifically for their comfort.
Due to the process of evapotranspiration ( the process by which a plant actively moves and releases water vapor) from a group of trees can reduce the surrounding air temperatures as much as 6°F.
Research indicates that depending on the amount of shade, trees can reduce household energy consumption by between 5 % and 15 %.
As well as reduce dew and frost due to the radiant energy released by the soil at night. Like all trees they improve air quality, harbor wildlife and add beauty to your home’s yard.
